Meet the Teaching Team
Lauren Turley loves teaching first grade! She has experience in special education, kindergarten, and first grade. When she is not dreaming up ways to make learning relevant and engaging for her students she likes to read, run and do yoga. She also loves to spend time with her friends and family.
Lisa Avila has been a teacher for 17 years. She has taught various grade levels, but her focus is early elementary. She is proud to have raised three children - two daughters and a son. Her oldest daughters are high school teachers and her son is a recent graduate from Alamo Heights High School. Mrs. Avila loves to spend time walking the San Antonio Riverwalk with her husband Art and their 3 dogs. She loves doing yoga and riding her bike.
Lamar first grade teachers, Mrs. Lisa Avila and Ms. Lauren Turley are joined by Trinity University intern, Ms. Katie Cribb. Katie holds an undergraduate degree from Trinity University in Communication. She is pursing a teaching career beginning with Trinity University's Masters of Arts in Teaching. She will spend the better part of the 2107-18 school year in Mrs. Avila's classroom at Lamar. In her spare time, Katie enjoys reading and running.
